Cincinnius’ library is the private library of the Lower Rhenish humanist Johannes Cincinnius (originally Kruyshaer, born 1480 in Lippstadt, Germany, died March 9, 1555 in Werden, Germany).
Cincinnius, librarian and archivist of the Rhenish Benedictine Abbey of Werden, served three abbots as a secular cleric. He donated his private library, whose parts preserved in Düsseldorf include more than 200 titles, to St. Ludgerus Abbey in his will. The quite numerous scientific and medical titles reflect the special interest of the former owner. The Cincinnius library as a whole is certainly one of the most precious material relics of Werden's intellectual history.
Below you will find a digitized selection of the works only available at the ULB Düsseldorf.
