The letters of Charles Darwin and his son Francis Darwin come from the partial legacy of the zoologist Karl Semper from Würzburg. This legacy was given to the ULB Düsseldorf by the former member of staff of Heinrich Heine University (Institute for Zoology) Shoji Wada in 2003.
